What this means for educators

Education is based on the needs for children to succeed in the society they live in. We live in a media and technologically saturated society. “Educators need to learn to adapt their learning and teaching practices to respond to the challenges of students being socially networked” (Dale & Pymm, 2009, p.94).  School administrators will need to be open minded and adapt to the flexibility that devices such as the iPod or iPad can bring to the learning environment. This brings a challenge to educators: how do they teach students technology, when students are already technologically literate? Teachers need to keep learning and be taught by the student when necessary, as well and immerse themselves into the world of technology.
